What is DTS spinal decompression therapy?
DTS spinal decompression therapy is a non-surgical treatment that uses a computer-controlled traction system to gently stretch the spine. Instead of a constant pull, the system applies carefully measured cycles of tension and relaxation. This is designed to create negative pressure within the disc, which can help retract bulging or herniated disc material, ease pressure on compressed nerves and encourage fluid and nutrients to flow back into the disc.
You may have come across the term spinal cord decompression, which usually refers to surgery performed to relieve pressure on the spinal cord itself. Non-surgical spinal decompression is different. It is performed while you lie comfortably on a treatment table, and it focuses on the discs, joints and nerve roots of the lower back and neck, with no incisions or injections involved. Whether it suits your condition is something we confirm during your consultation.

How spinal decompression helps
By easing pressure on the discs and the nerves around them, spinal decompression therapy can support your recovery in several ways. Patients often notice the following benefits:
Reduced Disc Pressure
Gentle traction creates space between the vertebrae and takes load off irritated discs.
Relief from Nerve Irritation
Less compression on spinal nerves can ease pain, numbness and tingling.
Reduced Radiating Pain
Support for pain that travels into the arms or legs, including sciatica.
Improved Disc Nutrition
Negative pressure within the disc encourages fluid and nutrient flow, supporting the body’s natural healing.
Better Mobility
Easier movement and less stiffness through the neck and lower back.
A Non-Surgical Approach
A conservative option that does not involve surgery or injections.
Common conditions spinal decompression helps with
Spinal decompression therapy is most often considered when disc pressure or nerve compression is part of the problem. After a thorough assessment, we may recommend it to help manage conditions such as:
- Herniated / bulging disc
- Slipped disc
- Sciatica
- Degenerative disc disease
- Pinched nerve
- Radiating leg pain
- Radiating arm pain
- Cervical disc herniation
- Facet joint syndrome
- Chronic lower back pain linked to disc problems
Spinal decompression is not suitable for everyone. It is generally not recommended during pregnancy, or where there is a spinal fracture, severe osteoporosis, infection, a tumour or surgical implants in the area being treated. This is why we always begin with a full consultation and review any scans before recommending care. If decompression is not right for you, we will explain why and talk you through the alternatives. You can read more about how we manage back pain and nerve conditions at our clinic.

Why choose Kiropraktis Chiropractic Center?
Choosing a spinal decompression chiropractor is about more than the equipment. At Kiropraktis Chiropractic Center, every patient is assessed in detail before treatment begins, looking at your spine, posture, movement and daily habits. This allows us to confirm that DTS spinal decompression therapy is appropriate and safe for you, and to target the root cause of your symptoms rather than the surface discomfort.
Decompression is delivered as part of a wider, personalised plan led by our principal chiropractor, Dr Suren, who brings over 15 years of clinical experience. Alongside spinal decompression therapy, we can use spine alignment and adjustment, soft tissue work and rehabilitation exercises, and we explain each step clearly so you always know what to expect.
Our spinal decompression treatments
DTS spinal decompression therapy is not a one-size-fits-all stretch. Each treatment is planned around the part of your spine that needs care, and every step is explained before we begin.
Lumbar Spinal Decompression
Targets the lower back to ease pressure on discs and nerve roots that can contribute to back pain, sciatica and pain travelling down the leg.
Cervical Spinal Decompression
Supports the neck by reducing pressure on cervical discs and nerves that may cause neck pain, stiffness, or pain and tingling in the arm.
Computer-Controlled Traction
Gradual cycles of pull and release, rather than a constant stretch, with the force and angle set for the affected spinal level.
Comfortable Treatment Position
You rest supported on the treatment table while the system works. It should feel like a gentle stretch, never forced or painful.
Assessment & Scan Review
We examine you and review any scans first, to confirm which spinal level is involved and whether decompression is suitable for you.
Progress Reviews & Self-Care Guidance
Your progress is reviewed against your starting symptoms and movement, so your plan can be adjusted as you improve, with practical advice for looking after your spine between visits.

Frequently asked questions
Each session is a set time on the decompression table, and the number of sessions depends on your condition, how long you have had it and how your body responds. Dr Suren will outline a recommended plan after your consultation and scan review.
DTS spinal decompression is designed to be gentle, and most patients find it comfortable. You rest on the table while the traction increases and releases gradually. Some people feel a mild stretch during treatment, or light muscle soreness afterwards, similar to after exercise. If anything feels uncomfortable, tell us and we will adjust or pause the session.
DTS spinal decompression therapy is a non-surgical option. It uses computer-controlled traction to ease pressure on the discs and nerves, with no cuts, anaesthetic or recovery period. Surgical spinal cord decompression, by contrast, removes or repositions tissue to free a compressed nerve or spinal cord, and is sometimes necessary. Many people try conservative care first, and if your examination or scans suggest surgery may be needed, we will refer you to a specialist.
A single DTS spinal decompression session is RM250. For first-time patients, our Premium package is RM470 and our Decompression Starter package is RM499, both including your consultation. Treatment is recommended after your consultation, and our pricing page lists every rate.
